Buying in RAK: quick answers
Do you accept Bitcoin / USDT or other cryptocurrencies to buy property?
Yes. Property purchases can be facilitated using Bitcoin and other accepted cryptocurrencies through established, authorized third-party trust and settlement companies.
RAKcompare and OBG Real Estate do not receive or process cryptocurrency directly. Instead, the transaction is handled by specialist providers that manage the crypto conversion, compliance checks, source-of-funds verification, and settlement of the property purchase in the required currency.
We have worked with trusted providers in this space for many years and can introduce buyers to the appropriate company when required. This allows international crypto investors to complete a property purchase through a structured and compliant process while keeping the cryptocurrency transaction separate from the real estate agency.
Can foreigners buy property on Al Marjan Island?
Yes. Al Marjan Island is a freehold zone permitting 100% foreign ownership. International buyers can purchase apartments, townhouses, villas and branded residences without restrictions on nationality. Ownership is full and permanent, with rights to lease or resell.
Do I need to be in Ras Al Khaimah to purchase an off-plan property?
No, you don't need to be physically present in Ras Al Khaimah to purchase an off-plan unit.
For direct off-plan purchases from developers, the process is straightforward and RAKcompare will handle all procedures on your behalf remotely.
For secondary market off-plan properties, you have two options:
- Be present in person to complete the transaction
- Appoint a Power of Attorney (POA) who can handle the procedures on your behalf
Important: You can grant a specific Power of Attorney that authorizes your representative to purchase property only, without giving them the authority to sell. This protects your interests while allowing the transaction to proceed smoothly.
What documents do I need to buy property on Al Marjan Island - Offplan from the Developer?
You will typically be required to provide the following documentation: A valid passport copy with address from your home country, email and phone number for each buyer in case of joint ownership. UAE Emirates ID (for residents). In addition, all buyers must complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) process, which involves submitting personal details and declaring the source of funds.
What documents do I need to buy property on Al Marjan Island from the Secondary Market?
To purchase a property on the secondary market, you will typically require a clear colored copy of your passport. In the case of joint ownership, the second party’s documents will also be required. Basic details such as your residential address, email address, and contact number must also be provided. If you are a UAE resident, a copy of your Emirates ID will additionally be required.
Once the initial documentation is submitted, a KYC (Know Your Customer) form must be completed, which requests personal information along with details regarding the source of funds.
